A 4-speed manual transmission is mated to a 2wd/4wd/Hi-Lo Dana 300 transfer case and manual front hubs. The 4.2 has been fitted with a Weber 2-barrel carburetor setup, a popular performance conversion for this generation Jeep. This Scrambler is powered by an AMC workhorse, the 258ci 4.2L straight-six that is virtually bulletproof.

Other features include a Dual AM/FM/Bluetooth sound system, custom door cards, Grant wheel and full Equus gauge package w/tach. Inside, the Corbeau bucket seats are upholstered in black vinyl and a nice center console has been installed. Both front and rear bumpers are chrome and sidestep bars have been installed. The bed has been fitted with a heavy-duty multi-point roll bar, a Corbau bench seat, rear-mount spare and wooden side rails. All body and floor pans are solid and the fiberglass cab roof is removable. The body was refinished in Sebring Red w/correct Scrambler trim and it is sharp. This 1985 Jeep Scrambler is a fully restored example of this rare CJ model.
Introduced in 1981 and manufactured through 1986, fewer than 30,000 total units were produced and there are few nice CJ-8s around today. The wheelbase of the CJ-8 was extended to 103 inches and featured a pick-up style box behind the rear seat. Ahead of the firewall, a reproduction hood and fenders were installed, along with an original Scrambler grille and windshield frame.The Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler was a long wheelbase version of the CJ-7. The 'cage was powdercoated red before being bolted in to place. A trip to Tri County Gear in Pomona, California, resulted in a six-point family rollcage constructed from 1-3/4- and 2-inch 0.120 wall DOM tubing. The new tub was then situated atop the frame, and the bolting up of parts ensued. AFW boxed the length of the frame for strength, stretched it in the appropriate sections to accommodate the longer aluminum tub and wheelbase, and placed the body mounts and associated bracketry accordingly. With the aluminum tub already constructed at the factory in Spokane, Washington, Knight contacted AFW to acquire one of its mandrel-bent TJ frames made from 3/16-inch-thick steel. Beginning with the remains of a rusted-out Scrambler body and chassis and a pile of miscellaneous Jeep TJ parts, Knight intended to integrate a custom stretched frame from Advanced Frame Works (AFW) and one of the first JP Off Road aluminum Scrambler tubs off the assembly line to create a functional, coiled 4x4 with enough room for his whole family. Hence, the aluminum Scrambler tub was born. Already in the business of manufacturing aluminum replacement and competition Jeep bodies, Knight decided it was time to add the popular Scrambler edition to the lineup.
